Beethoven 250 Celebration

Chamber Orchestra ENSEMBLE EAST are back at Aylsham Church  with a programme that includes Beethoven’s 7th Symphony in celebration of the 250th anniversary of his birth. Together with Haydn – Symphony No 49 (La Passione) and opening with Mendelssohn – The fair Melusine Overture OP 32 this programme is sure to be a winner.

This well-known chamber orchestra is notable for focussing far more on intensity, energy and intimacy than on volume, producing interpretations that are hard to match.

Directed from the leader’s chair, audiences are treated to dynamic and vital performances.

MendelssohnThe Fair Melusine Overture is a romantic concert overture after an ancient legend of a water nymph who marries a count.

HaydnSymphony No 49 (La Passione) is truly one of the finest classical symphonies ever written – it’s No1 in Classic FM’s list of 104 Haydn symphonies.

Beethoven – Symphony No7 was judged by Beethoven himself to be one of his best works. This symphony was used to great effect in the film The King’s Speech
